how i describe our essential nature

that which we are born to be


i was very fortunate as a child

when i was still pretty young

i asked my father

how do you deal with this


his response to me was

i don't know what to tell you boy

your going to have to

work that out for your self


i had a very fortunate childhood


although it wasn't all fun

i wasn't lied to

shadow

never stand

in your own shadow

no more time

no more time to stand around
all those dreams still not quite found
now the truth is clear to me
i've lost enough and now i'm free

the game of life i'll never win
they lied to me  -  but that's their sin
mine was falling for their story
fantastic tales of wealth and glory

many think they know the way
but don't believe in what they say
creation makes us what we are
and each must follow his own star

no matter what the world thinks true
you find the truth inside of you
to lose your self too much in thought
will lead to being what your not

in silent moments here inside
i found the spark that almost died
and regained what i had lost
that precious gift beyond all cost

our essence is what's rightly made
it's truth is through the heart relayed
but we must heed the spirits call
that lives within the heart of all

do not push

do not push on another
he in truth is your brother
there's only one life
that we share

tho we feel so apart
cause we live without heart
and of kindness
we don't seem to care

all this we could change
and the mess rearrange
but the grudges and greed
have to go

the past has been bad
yet more vengeance is sad
and the pain
will continue to grow

the chain  must be broken
our love can't be token
we have to find
some other way

to deal with this life
and end all the strife
or the debt
will become to great to pay

it only will start
if we each do our part
and let go
of the blame and the hate

we must find here inside
some way not to hide
from the truth
before it's too late

for the pain  -  it is growing
the signs are all showing
a breakdown
is not far away

but all talk is cheap
it's the trust we must keep
with our heart
we must face the new day

peace will only come through kindness
vengeance only leads to blindness
the rage and pain we choose to feel
will never let the old wounds heal

until we learn to serve all others
until we see that all are brothers

everyone claims to be right
everyone claims to know what's right
so few question themselves
so much is wrong

i wish you well

in an age

in and age the soul remembers
sensing still its dying embers
man to truth was honor bound
rarely was deception found

but today our greed does rule us
strange ideas do re tool us
no more is the spirit free
to create life as it should be

the hand of fate is shunned and broken
respect for life no more than token
now the children life in fear
finding little to hold dear

fantastic dreams now fill our heads
strange contortions fill our beds
grace and love so rarely found
with war and violence so renowned

it's said that once the ancients spoke
about the time man would evoke
the beast that would bring on such pain
when tears would fall like endless rain

perhaps now is what they meant
when power's what we represent
but love is lost in such a way
and peace and joy the price we pay

with guns and bombs we blast and kill
we push and shove  -  enforce our will
the seeds we plant will surely grow
yet still it's grief and pain we sow


love will not be found in was
more sorrow  -   that's what we're in for
you don't make friends with pain and fear
we're loving all the heart holds dear

there is still time  -  we're not quite broken
but it takes love much more than token
no more must we live for power
we must sow love for peace to flower

once before man took up dreaming

once  -  before man took up dreaming
lost himself in all this scheming
life was lived within the order
life itself its own recorder

but in time a change took place
somewhere in the human race
from the truth we turned away
deception's now the game we play

the price is high for this digression
our sickness is the heart's confession
still the spirit seeks to free us
from the shrouds that so conceal us

the heart must face the truth of life
and open mind will end the strife
but we must no more fear the truth
for man to regain his lost youth

hearing all the words they said
yet each must know the truth within
to live a life that's without sin

on and on we think and worry
guessing  -  grasping  -  endless flurry
ending up just sad and sick
seeking someone weak to kick

life is only live in truth
a gift so cherished in our youth
but then we're taught control and lie
play those roles and slowly die

the truth of life must be set free
an open heart is free to see
what it sees  -  yes without guilt
for guilt will cause the soul to wilt

and sickness grow within our band
more violence sweep across the land
for love and truth and life are one
without these we'll soon be done

a child cries

how long will it be till we see

that the world is in pain
and the wails are like rain
the pills must be stronger each day

this cannot be right
such a horrible sight
we each are a cause in some way

let another one change
i will not re-arrange
seems such a cop-out to me

we all must take part
in any new start
if any real change is to be

to think of ourself
beyond everyone else
is wrong an it's so plain to see

we're all selfish inside
yet most try to hide
from the truth  -  which is what sets us free

no  -  we're not all bad
but our minds have been had
and we think someone else is at fault

but each must accept
his own part of the debt
not just armor ourselves like a vault

love your will find
is not in the mind
be open to find your own heart

one must let the heart be open

not turned in  -  its love unspoken

all is all  -  yes this is true

all is one  -  there is no two

i know how things can appear

but love and life are all ways near

an astrology comment

that jupiter in scorpio and uranus in aries

is a pretty big deal

on and on

on and on through life i go
it's and endless wander
still i know that in my heart
i just keep growing fonder

of all the people that i meet
of all the creatures here
more and more i cherish them
forever hold them dear

they seem to be so real inside
tho many no more show it
with outer shell they've learned to hide
but in my heart i know it

all are one  -  as has been spoken
mostly long ago
still i feel i know them all
the bond is still unbroken

life is love

if you know

how to live

much time has passed

much time has passed since i was young
not much has really changed

the game goes on and i'm still here
not changed  -  but re-arranged

my heart still cries  -  i love it so
and spring still brings me joy

yes i'm alive and i don't mind
inside i'm still a boy

much time has passed yet i still play
in this land of terror

no more to hang my head and cry
i don't regret the error

mistakes were made  -  i bless them so
for through them i did learn
