forgot what i was going to say

the age old quest ye on

what the hell did adam say to eve

claiming you're on

when you're off

there she stands

tho it's source is not quite clear

sometimes she blames it all on me
yet i don't see how that could be

feelings seem to slow her down
turn her smile into a frown

perhaps she fears just what she is
would rather be what she calls his

all of this just makes no sense
the pain i see just makes me wince

i know that this could not be right
for all of us to be uptight

it's said that truth will set us free
an open heart can clearly see

that all must be just what they are
no more to wish upon some star

the gift of love is found within
in our own essence all are kin

but this is never found in thought
that's the scam that we all bought

life and love are all ways giving
that's not how we have been living

greed and fear now rule our lives
and it gets worse with all our tries

peace is never found through war
it brings more hatred to our door

one must love all life in kind
it's ourselves we must remind

and has been called being

times of conflict

in times of great conflict
like these that i see
it's hard to make judgement
like just what to be

confusion and chaos
will keep us uptight
that by itself
makes it hard to know right

perhaps if we slow down
and just clear our head
give up the ideas
that make us brain dead

cause when this one says this
and another says that
we settle the issue
with fist and with bat

most think they know something
but i think we don't
we outsmart ourselves
with ideas that won't

fit in with nature
which has it's own plan
which we disregard
because we now can

it we took the time
and gave life a look
it just might not be
as we read in some book

a mind that's not made up
and fused with belief
might find something more
and provide some relief

but if no one will face
that they just might be wrong
we may someday look up
and find our world gone

i went to a party

i went to a party on saturday night
and the sights that i saw gave my heart such a fright

the masks that we wore were so ghastly to see
i stood there in silence  -  how could this all be

the noise was so great and the smiles so untrue
most were afraid and the others just blue

i watched for a while then did go away
but soon i returned  -  still with nothing to say

the din was still growing and the music so loud
soon i was into the mood of the crowd

we're here to forget just how lonely we feel
for a while to pretend it's not such a bad deal

the wine it's a flowing and the smoke is so thick
a sane person by now would lie down and be sick

but not me  -  i'm so tough i can take it all in
as we strut for the girls and pretend we're still men

now it's over at last and i'm home here alone
all the girls turned away  -  no one threw me a bone

in a while i will sleep till the sunrise again
and try to remember just where all i've been

the head full of aches and a sadness inside
to be such a fool and so full of pride

maybe in time i'll grow up and reform
but it's hard in a world where conform is the norm
